The intriguing allure of Maggie Siner’s paintings derives from a mysterious blend of Eastern and Western influences. Her brush strokes and ability to capture light in her evocative paintings create an homage to beauty and a synthesis of world views. Her gathering and arranging of objects for her still life paintings is an art in itself which produces dramatic and unforgettable images. Siner guides her classically derived landscapes and figures into a striking contemporary form with a sense of movement. With her highly-esteemed work in hundreds of collections worldwide, Siner also paints, teaches and lectures in many of the exotic places she visits.
Born in 1951 in Rhode Island, Siner holds a BFA (1973) from Boston University where she studied art and was a student of Robert D’Arista at American University (MFA 1976). Maggie makes her home in Virginia and France.
